v0.9.11 for three-mesh-bvh has been released! And brings an overhaul of compute-shader functionality to improve performance, flexibility & platform support! 🚀 You can use the hooks to write your own compute traversal for custom queries, as with the shapecast function. 1/2 🧵
Unsurprisingly, keeping all meshes in a TLAS has a severe path tracer perf impact when there are lots of overlapping bounds - slower than the WebGL version with merged geometry in some cases! These images show the ray traversal cost from a 46 mesh TLAS vs pre-merged geometry.

This is one of the wildest things I have built with AI so far 😱 Asked Claude Fable 5 to create a fully interactive 3D crime investigation board using @threejs and it did it in ONE Prompt. It took one more prompt to give it a polished UI inspired by a reference design that I created with GPT Image. What surprised me most was not how it looked. It was how it worked. Fable built a complete Verlet rope physics system with 46 particles in every thread. It handled gravity, damping, distance constraints and all other features of file upload, text and everything. The threads/ropes even lift naturally with pinned evidence instead of clipping through it. I never asked it to implement any of that. I only described the experience I wanted. Maybe that's how we should work with AI. Instead of writing long long specs, we should explain what we want as an experience and let AI do its thing. Anyway, every day Fable 5 raises the bar for what I think AI can build. More to this Live: casebook-phi.vercel.app/ Code: github.com/thebuggeddev/case…

My wife asked me to help her figure out how to arrange the furniture in the apartment. Of course, it all ended with a WASD walk around the apartment. I modeled it in @Blender , and @Claude helped port it all to @threejs This pipeline now works for just about everything.

idTech 8 style Global Illumination (FAST AS HELL) in @threejs (via WebGPU) I've worked on this for 5 weeks (on and off) and it's still not there, but all the core tenets work. Next more denoising + better temporal accumulation, and some larger scale examples. (Running at 4K)

Ok what started out as a stupid demo to test with, has now started to become a SPORE clone more and more i tweak at it. This is all @threejs still .. i've built a custom ECS framework to drive it all so it can scale infinite, there's an entire body parts SDF piece to this which is getting to the point where it works. Now added a pixelart shader to the mix. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame

Grok 4.5 in Grok Build created an FPS game in under an hour. The prompt was simple. I told it to write a game design document and pull free assets from the web. Then I had it create a TODO.md with implementation phases and run a loop to build out each phase. SpaceXAI and Cursor cooked here. This model is insane.

building Milan in three.js. started over with 5.6 Sol and we achieved 28,000+ real buildings, all accurately positioned and scaled with even better performance. seeing the whole thing makes it feel… like something now full focus on procedural facades and textures, then landmarks (no idea how i ll pull them off) but this thing needs to shine. i think i’m almost ready to earn my sunglasses @alightinastorm 😎
we are making progress here GTA Milano 🇮🇹 in your browser… before GTA VI? 🤔

Decided I wanted to be overstimulated by NYC all the time so I built its digital twin with real time data. Now I can enjoy NYC from my couch at home, and you can too! Track air traffic, subways, buses, ferries, Citi Bikes, traffic speeds, traffic cameras, 311 complaints, weather, news headlines... ...and even live bird migration patterns. (Looking at you, pigeons 👀)
