I asked Fable to generate a Kerbal Space Program clone as an ultimate test of its capabilities 🚀
The video you are seeing below is the result of only two prompts.
Prompt 1: "I want you to build a KSP clone, complete with vehicle building, launching, controls, orbital mechanics, staging, fuel, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, and of course landing on the moon."
There were a few bugs so I followed up with this:
Prompt 2: "Staging isn't working. parts just stay attached. Also are we tracking separate fuel tanks? Improve the world generation to make it more interesting."
Not only did it build all of this, but it also wrote a test-suite simulates various scenarios like a reaching orbit or landing on the Mun, generates a flight log and then uses that to validate itself.
I used to develop simulations and orbit propagation algorithms when I worked as a nav engineer at Blue Origin.
While this is still a far cry from a real-life simulation, I have first hand experience knowing the amount of effort that goes into building something like this.
Wild times.
