GPUs! I’m writing a big post about GPUs, rendering, ray-tracing, memory, Direct X, OpenGL etc, let me know if there is anything you’d like me to cover! #picUnrelated

Cover the state of MacOS, if it dropping OpenGL is a big deal or not. Curious about that.

Will there be an after effects tutorial on how you made that pizza look so goddamn good?

I'd love to know more about how GPU memory impacts performance in vanilla AE FX and VC plugins vs how CPU or RAM affects the experience. Also whether RTX cards are going to broadly improve, only narrowly improve, or completely overhaul the speed of relevant calculations 🙂

I want you to cover Element 3D3. Now even more 3D than before! It's 33D!

Ok, now my serious question... It would be good to get a refresher on the current ‘most useful’ effects that use GPU rendering/acceleration. In the past you’ve done a great job of showing us how to some new CC versions improve on the older versions of a similar effect.

Would like to know if multi threading will be replaced in AE, or is there another option? Also performance benchmarks of eGPUs (like the black magic one) on various MacBook Pro models.

Well, we are all waiting. When you make your post we can then have some questions to ask

The abilities of various apps to CONTROL their usage by the user. NLEs have a gap in eGPU user administration.

what about cpu <-> gpu data transfer efficiency problems? Geometry shaders use cases? OpenGL bottlenecks (like implicit synchronization)?

Dude I want you to write about that pizza more than GPUs.

Would be cool if you covered compute frameworks too - CUDA, RTX, OpenCL, Metal. These are very relevant as they're a major part of rendering now and even more so in the future!

Element 3D V3 :) . The only thing we want to know !

I've switched my 3d rigs to take advantage of multiple GPUs, to good results. Do you anticipate that more programs/3rd party renderers will look at gpu setups like this in the future?

For rendering, how much does after effects really use the GPU compared to CPU. Is a beefy GPU only helpful for GPU accelerated effects and Element/Orb?

Will Element3d support nvidia optix library with it's RTX?Would we benefit from new NvidiaGPUs?Would element support PathTracing and real GI as optional mode? Some advanced ParticleSystems on E3D, i mean efficient instancing for scattering multiple debries, grass fields etc?

Love to know +'s and -'s of AE with the Nvidia RTX 2080's, 2070's, GTX 1080's, & 1070's re. ray trace, render, lighting. Thanks!
