I used a similar technique that I learned in this tutorial two years ago for a web spot w/ @sandwich ! It matched up quite well against a stock shot of a satellite that we pulled.

10 years ago a textured "3D sphere" was realy cool in a compositing tools but now we have 2018 and AE still has no modern 3D Engine/Workflow 🙈 ...its a real shame!
