It's come up a few times lately so I want to clarify something regarding Livewire "vs." Inertia - and a few things about Inertia in general.
Comparing Livewire to Inertia doesn't make sense. You should compare Livewire to Vue or React.
Why? Inertia isn't a frontend framework. It is a JSON protocol specification (inertiajs.com/the-protocol) that allows backends (not just Laravel!) to communicate to a React / Vue / Svelte frontend what page to load and with what data.
The various Inertia backend and frontend libraries essentially just provide helpers for working with that protocol.
When viewed with that understanding, Inertia is "complete software".
At heart, it is a wire protocol specification to allow you to build Laravel + React / Vue / Svelte apps monolithically - and it does that well. It is 100% complete in that regard. It solves the problem it set out to solve.
That means it is stable. You should not expect it to get loads of new features. Why? You are using Inertia in order to use Vue or React as your frontend framework.
Remember, Inertia is primarily a wire protocol. Instead, you should be keeping up with what new features Vue or React are getting.

I love this aspect of @inertiajs -- I don't have to fundamentally switch technologies when things grow in complexity.
It starts easy and familiar, just happening to use React/Svelte/Vue as the "templates", but can scale up to the full power of those frameworks as needed.
We use enough complex JS components written in React that it just make sense for us to have our whole component system live in React land. Love to see all the progress on the LiveView front, though!

Anyone here using Inertia 1.x with Vue 2.6?
Thinking of only supporting Vue 2.7 since it has features from Vue 3 that are necessary to properly implement the `usePage()` hook.
It's a breaking change, but I'm wonder if anyone is actually using Vue 2.6 with Inertia 1.x 🤔

💫 Yesterday I added the ability to pass your initial form data as a callback to the Vue form helper in @inertiajs.
This is handy when your form data is based on props, and when you reset the form you want it to use the latest prop values.

🤩 In Vue 3.3 you no longer need to use two <script> blocks to define component options but you can use the defineOptions compiler macro
You can also use it today in your Vue 2/3 app using the Vue Macros library:

Worked with @jessarcher tonight on cleaning up some of the TypeScript types in Inertia.js v1.0. Should have a patch release out within the next few days.
Slowly getting better at TypeScript...still have a long way to go though 😅
