This is why I believe Ariakit dot org will stay relevant for decades: – It's always been about examples. And we'll feature multiple libraries: Ariakit React, Radix, Base UI, RAC, Headless UI, and others outside the React ecosystem. We'll continue to improve Ariakit's own component library (Ariakit React) focusing on interoperability and features that are not supported by current solutions (like the Combobox for Radix users). – As the web platform evolves, we'll also have examples built solely with native widgets. There are so many things you can build with just HTML and CSS today, with progressive enhancement (base select) and polyfills (popover, anchor positioning, etc.). – You'll find shadcn commands, AI prompts, and copy-paste code snippets that make it easy to use and customize examples. – Ariakit dot org is our core product and we've been maintaining the project since 2017. We've been financially sustainable for the past year and expect to grow even more with the upcoming features.

MCP servers returning UI that the host is expected to render is an interesting use case for @ariakitjs tailwind. There is tension between the MCP host's theme, and the MCP server's desire to maintain brand identity. AKs auto-adaptive accessibility could ease this tension.

I want to offer Popover components in @ariakitjs that don't rely on Floating UI, allowing users to customize them with CSS anchor positioning (using a polyfill for browsers that lack support). The easiest non-breaking solution is to add a prop that disables Floating UI internally, though it will remain part of the bundle. In hindsight, coupling the positioning logic with the Popover component was a mistake. While it made the component more convenient, they really should've been separate. We now have the option to separate them, but naming is hard, and I don't want to lose the familiar "Popover" name. Alternatively, we could create a separate entry point, such as @⁠ariakit⁠/⁠react⁠/⁠anchor, which exports everything under the same names, but without Floating UI. Later, we could reintegrate that functionality back into the main entry point and deprecate the separate path, allowing for a smooth migration by simply updating the import statement.
