The White House is now deploying federalized troops of another state’s National Guard into the cities of states that the president has publicly declared are “enemies” of the United States. We are approaching an extremely dangerous point in this country as well as likely one of the largest challenges to “States' Rights” since the Civil Rights Movement, possibly even the Civil War.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered the call up and federalization of 400 Airmen and Soldiers with the Texas National Guard in order to “perform federal protection missions where needed, including in the cities of Portland and Chicago.” This order follows the failure of a plan by the Trump Administration to deploy federalized members of the Oregon National Guard to Portland against the wishes of the Governor, which was temporarily halted by a federal judge appointed by President Donald J. Trump.
