The long-term cardiovascular risks of SARSCoV2 infection and reinfections Your heart is under silent, cumulative attack from SARSCoV2, and every reinfection can reload/worsen the damage. Here a personal recap of 10 important studies from the last 2 years showing exactly how this virus and its reinfections can/may shape (and shorten) your cardiovascular future. Evidence is clear, long-term, and growing. Print and show your Cardiologist. Let’s connect the dots… 1. Immunothrombosis multi-omics study: 3 months after hospitalisation, long COVID patients still have blood biologically “clot-ready” with persistent endothelial activation and prothrombotic signalling. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 2. IL-6 & SAA 6-year study: Higher acute-phase IL-6 and SAA levels independently predict cardiovascular events and death up to 6 years later, the initial inflammatory storm leaves a lasting CV mark. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 3. MIS-C long-term outcomes: Up to 4.5 years later, MIS-C raises cardiovascular disease risk 14× and hypertension 9× in children, with risks still accumulating. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 4. Viruses & cardiac disease review: SARS-CoV-2 stands out for direct cardiomyocyte invasion + explosive damage + relentless accumulation of risk with every reinfection. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 5. Mayo PET long COVID study: Persistent cerebral hypometabolism in fatigue/PEM patients still detectable up to 2 years post-infection. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 6. Reinfection CV outcomes summary: Reinfections worsen cumulative heart damage, arrhythmias, thrombosis, stroke risk and long COVID cardiovascular symptoms. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 7. Youth reinfection & long COVID study: Reinfection roughly doubles PASC risk, with myocarditis up to 3.6× higher, heart disease ~2× higher and increased thromboembolism. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 8. Mild infection + reinfection risk: Even mild cases trigger lasting endothelial damage and prothrombotic state (1.5–2× long-term CV risk), each reinfection compounds the burden. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 9 Mitochondrial dysfunction in long COVID: Persistent mitochondrial dysfunction and suppressed oxidative phosphorylation remain in long COVID, pointing to durable multi-organ impact. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 10. Cumulative reinfection impact on future CV health: Reinfection stacks additional damage on prior endothelial injury and inflammation, increasing lifetime risk of heart failure, arrhythmias, thrombosis and accelerated cardiovascular disease. nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… 11. Extra, my earlier general reminder post on this exact theme: nitter.catsarch.com/HarrySpoelstra/status/… ‼️Overall convergence across the studies: Immunothrombosis, acute inflammation markers, direct invasion, endothelial damage, and mitochondrial issues create lasting CV vulnerability that reinfections can keep reloading. #L0ngC0vid The pattern is very clear. Fewer infections = lower lifetime cardiovascular risk. You only have one heart. Protect it! #AvoidSars2 #AvoidReinfections #CleanAir #VaccineUpdated
🚨GENERAL REMINDER: YOU ONLY HAVE ONE HEART, TREAT IT WITH RESPECT! Reinfections aren't harmless "boosters", they stack the deck against your HEART, turning one hit into compounding long-term cardiovascular risks. ➡️3 important and recent articles (from 2025–2026) providing the strong evidence that SARS-CoV-2 reinfections increase risks of long COVID, including cardiovascular complications like myocarditis, arrhythmias, heart disease, thromboembolism, and related issues( There're more!!): ➡️1. Long COVID associated with SARS-CoV-2 reinfection among children and adolescents in the omicron era (RECOVER-EHR): a retrospective cohort study. Published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases (2026). This large retrospective study of nearly 500,000 youth found reinfection roughly doubles the risk of long COVID/PASC overall (RR 2.08), with elevated risks for myocarditis (up to 3.6×), arrhythmias, heart disease, thromboembolism, chest pain, and other cardiovascular signs/symptoms, even in vaccinated individuals. thelancet.com/journals/lanin… ➡️2. Long COVID Syndrome Prevalence in 2025 in an Integral Healthcare Consortium in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona: Persistent and Transient Symptoms. Published in Vaccines (MDPI, 2025). This real-world study showed long COVID prevalence was 3–10 times higher in people with three or more infections vs. one, alongside a post-pandemic doubling of thrombotic events (cardiovascular-related clots) across populations, linking reinfections to worsened persistent symptoms including cardiovascular sequelae. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article… ➡️3. Cardiovascular damage and comorbidities related to long COVID: pathomechanisms, prevention, and therapy. Published in Physiological Research (2025). This review explicitly states reinfections can trigger de novo long COVID or exacerbate its severity, contributing to persistent cardiovascular risks like heart failure, dysrhythmias, myocardial infarction, and stroke, building on evidence of cumulative damage from repeat SARS-CoV-2 exposures. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article… ➡️So: 1. Reinfection worsens endothelial dysfunction (already impaired from prior COVID), raising cardiac event risks, especially in those with pre-existing atherosclerosis or CV factors, 2. Repeat infections cumulatively boost long COVID odds, including cardiovascular manifestations (e.g, myocarditis, arrhythmias, heart conditions 3× higher in some cohorts), 3. Studies show 1.35–2× higher long COVID risk after reinfection vs. single infection. One large pediatric analysis found ~2× higher PASC (including heart-related) post-reinfection in Omicron era. 4. Experts note each infection adds damage, accelerating vascular aging, plaque issues, and overall CV burden, even mild cases. The reminder: Reinfections aren't harmless "boosters"—they stack the deck against your heart, turning one hit into compounding long-term cardiovascular risks. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE HEART, TREAT IT WITH RESPECT! PLEASE: #AVOIDREINFECTIONS #AVOIDSARS2 #HEARTHEALTH #CLEANAIR

Immunothrombosis in hospitalized COVID-19 patients identified by multiomics profiling and linked to postacute complications 🚨INTERESTING New Latvian/Swedish multi-omics study shows immunothrombosis never fully switched off in longC0VID patients: 3 months after COVID hospitalization, your blood is still biologically “clot-ready.” ➡️What makes this study so important: 1. It reinforces that immunothrombosis (the interplay of complement, NETs, and platelets) is a central driver in severe acute COVID-19 and can persist in longC0VID, 2. It confirms persistent endothelial Dysfunction/Endotheliopathy in longC0VID patients, consistent with earlier studies on vascular damage and microclots, 3. It aligns with prior evidence of mitochondrial dysfunction during the acute phase, followed by partial repair mechanisms, 4. The persistent complement activation they observed fits with other recent multi-omics studies showing ongoing complement dysregulation in longC0VID. ➡️Study: 1. Prospective longitudinal multi-omics study of 81 hospitalized COVID-19 patients tracked whole-blood transcriptomics, urine metabolomics (46 analytes), and 13 kidney-injury biomarkers at acute admission, ~1 month, and ~3 months post-hospitalization, 2. Patients stratified by EHR into recovered (n=35) versus long COVID (n=46) groups based on a PASC diagnoses within 12 months, 3. None of the 81 hospitalized patients were vaccinated, 4. Acute phase dominated by interconnected immunothrombosis: strong upregulation of complement (C1QA/B/C), NETosis (PADI4, MPO), and platelet-activation genes (ITGA2B, ITGB3), plus mitochondrial dysfunction (HIF1A/EPAS1 up, OXPHOS down, Warburg-like glycolysis) and elevated renal injury markers (KIM-1 etc.), 5. Most immune, mitochondrial, and metabolomic changes largely normalized by 1–3 months, with rebound in mitophagy/heme genes (PINK1, OPA1, FECH) indicating repair, 6. At 3 months, longC0VID patients showed a distinct transcriptional signature of persistent endothelial activation (↑VWF, PROS1, ITGA2B/ITGB3), complement dysregulation (CFH), and low-grade vascular inflammation/platelet reactivity (CXCL5, ALOX12) that was absent in recovered individuals, 7. No significant late differences in urine metabolomics or kidney biomarkers between groups. ➡️They conclude with their Highlight-points: • Severe COVID-19 induces immunothrombosis-associated molecular programs, • Acute COVID-19 is associated with mitochondrial metabolic dysregulation, • Urine profiling indicates gradual renal recovery after hospitalization, • LongC0VID patients retain endothelial-associated activation signatures. ‼️So, even after apparent clinical recovery, immunothrombosis leaves a persistent molecular scar of endothelial activation and prothrombotic signalling in longC0VID patients at three months, revealing that the acute vascular battlefield never fully quiets in those who remain symptomatic. →Three months post Covid-19, longC0VID patient’s blood is still biologically primed to clot! #AvoidSars2 #AvoidReinfections cell.com/iscience/fulltext/S…

⚡️New energy sources can scale with surprising speed. The US shale gas boom since 2007 stands as the fastest expansion of any major energy source in recent history, outpacing the historic growth of Saudi oil and Indonesian coal. It slashed natural gas prices by over ❗50%, saving American consumers ❗❗$4.5–5.3 trillion since 2007 (roughly $200–276 billion annually), boosted manufacturing, added hundreds of thousands of jobs, and helped add ❗~1% to US GDP during peak years while turning the US into a net energy exporter. Solar and wind are now charting their own explosive trajectories—the fastest-growing electricity sources in history, with solar alone adding capacity at rates that eclipse past booms. @McKinsey_MGI

That’s the big difference between now and 20 years ago. The USA developed its oil drilling capacity so much that something like this conflict with Iran didn’t cause any crisis. The USA needs to do this with all other resources that it can.
What a remarkable outcome: the world's largest ever oil supply disruption failed to create a major energy crisis. The IEA said 2026 shock was worst than 1973, 1979 and 2022 together. And yet, the cost of oil, natural gas, electricity and coal never surpassed the previous peaks.

When governments over-stabilize incomes and prices, people start believing these two are a pure function of government intervention, and not of supply-chain productivity. Under that illusion, asking government to kill a few more golden egg geese has no downsides.
Metaphors like eating the seed corn, killing the golden goose, burning the furniture to heat the house - these simply have no effect on people who have never created anything in their life

Kurš gan to būtu varējis iedomāties? Kāpēc viņš to dara?

For nearly a millennium, Christians have prayed at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Empires rose and fell. Wars came and went. The monastery endured. Tonight, flames rise over one of Christianity’s holiest sites after a Russian strike. This is not a war over territory - Russia is assaulting memory, identity, faith, and civilization.
Russia just targeted and heavily damaged one of the most religiously significant sites in Eastern Orthodoxy. Remember that the next time some pro-Russian simpleton blathers on about "Putin protecting Ukrainian Christians".
