This year, Serbia granted citizenship to four times as many Russians as people of all other nationalities combined, and some of them were under international sanctions, an RFE/RL analysis shows. This is a red flag for the EU. Because Serbia has visa-free access to the bloc, these passports give blacklisted individuals an all-access pass to Europe. By @RSE_Balkan

We can see Hungary embracing liberalism by banning political posters that "incite hatred."
Based on TISZA’s proposal, political posters that incite hatred will be banned, and political advertisements will no longer be permitted on utility poles.

It can be difficult to grasp just how recent the Mexicanization of America is. In the 1970s, less than 70,000 net Mexicans were immigrating per year. Then from 1980-2010, you had about 700,000 net migrating every year, on top of Baby Boom levels of TFR.
Mexico net annual migration by decade using births and census counts: 1940-1950: +20k 1950-1960: -70k 1960-1970: -145k 1970-1980: -67k 1980-1990: -751k 1990-2000: -717k 2000-2010: -643k 2010-2020: -206k

Russia is slowly losing one of its most important advantages in this war: the ability to replace its losses. For more than three years, the Kremlin has relied on a constant flow of manpower, throwing money, bonuses, and benefits at recruits to keep the war machine running. Now even that appears to be becoming more difficult. The reality is simple: Russia is paying more, recruiting harder, and getting less in return. Fewer people are willing to fight, casualties continue to mount, and labor shortages are spreading across both the military and civilian sectors. This is what strategic defeat looks like. Not a dramatic collapse overnight, but a slow erosion of the resources, manpower, and economic strength needed to sustain a long war. Ukraine continues to prove that Russian losses have consequences. Every destroyed vehicle, every ammunition depot, every logistics hub, and every Russian soldier taken out of the fight increases the pressure on a system that is already struggling to replace what it loses. Russia can manufacture equipment. Russia can print money. What Russia cannot easily replace are trained people. The longer Ukraine remains strong and receives support from its partners, the harder it becomes for Russia to sustain this war at the level it once could. Russia is not winning. Russia is paying a higher and higher price every day just to maintain the fight. Слава Україні. Героям слава. 🇺🇦

Reminder that Doctors Without Borders spent two years at Nasser Hospital before admitting Hamas was using it as a terror base. During that stretch, the group refused to treat 20 Gaza Humanitarian Foundation aid workers wounded by Hamas, leaving them to die in the courtyard
Just in: Doctors Without Borders staff have been sexually abusing underage refugees in Chad — including trading aid for sex, and indications of organized sexual trafficking. For those who've followed the group's ties to Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza, this is hardly a surprise

Russian milbloggers complain that civilians apparently show contempt for their own soldiers and are ready to brawl over gas, not caring at all about the army's fuel shortage, since they just need to get to the seaside for vacation.

Europe absolutely needs to wake up to the threat from China They are supplying weapons for Russia and even training troops for them. Chinese hackers are attacking critical infrastructure in multiple European countries. No democracy should rely on China for manufactured goods.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis: China now has 30% of the world's manufacturing capacity and has essentially the ability to destroy industries across the globe, and certainly in Europe. This is a topic that we need to take very, very seriously. We cannot just allow our industrial base to be completely annihilated simply because we're in search of always the cheapest product.

Russian occupiers complain that occupied Crimea has been "stormy" for the past two weeks. A Sevastopol resident writes fuel trucks didn't make it to the city again today, all bridges except the Crimean Bridge are destroyed, and they're being driven into blockade. No way..
Crimea is about to become an island, says Ukrainian Defense Ministry adviser Sternenko, calling this Russia's toughest summer yet. He's urging residents of occupied Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Donetsk regions to evacuate as Russian logistics fall apart.

The Anniversary of Mariupol's First Liberation Exactly 12 years ago, Mariupol was liberated from Russian control. Azov, at the time a battalion within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, played a central role in the operation, alongside fighters from the MIA battalion Dnipro-1, National Guard of Ukraine units, and the 72nd Mechanized Brigade. From May 9, enemy forces were reinforcing barricades in anticipation of an assault. Azov fighters built a replica of those barricades and rehearsed storming them. On the morning of June 13, the enemy was offered the chance to lay down their arms. When they refused, Azov launched the assault while adjacent units secured the perimeter. Azov's actions derailed the plan to occupy Donetsk Oblast, and Mariupol was granted eight years of peaceful, free life. Today, Mariupol, like other cities of Donetsk Oblast, lies in ruins, and hundreds of its defenders remain in captivity. But we do not forget any of them, nor do we forget our home city. Things will only get worse for the Russians until they leave Ukrainian soil.

A lot of Russian assets across the globe have started a last ditch effort to save Russia from its looming defeat. The only right response is to increase help for the Ukrainian people, enabling them to finish the job. Once imperial Russia is no more, many „domestic“ problems will „miraculously“ disappear, because after all it has always been Russia and not a domestic issue.

This is why the Laffer curve holds even in the absence of emigration and evasion
Short version of many great points. If you redistribute wealth in order to support consumption, you get no wealth -- no savings, investment, factories, etc. Poor people will not leave 99% of their new wealth invested in productive capital as billionaires do.
