the fast, comprehensive UI solution for React & React Native used in production by billion dollar companies like @uniswap npm create tamagui

Inclined to believe based on his response. “The entire web ecosystem has standardized on it” is not at all true. It might be ‘A’ standard but absolutely not ‘THE’ standard, very very VERY far from that.

Did you know: - CSS in JS has more npm downloads than tailwind. - AI tools output great Tamagui code. - Vercel spent $$$ on Tailwind starting many years ago. They wanted old CSS-in-JS libs out because they’re bad on RSC and to avoid a plugin system for Turbopack too early
Replying to @tamagui_js
Literally the entire web ecosystem has standardized on tailwind 😵‍💫 that’s why “every ai tool leans on it” per the quoted tweet. If anything I was personally late to it, until it clicked for me.

To be fair: they also just invest in web tech and tailwind is popular. As always there’s many reasons. We just don’t appreciate the many, many times they’ve put out that CSS in JS is “dead” that is completely false. Panda, @stylexjs, Tamagui, ParkUI, Vanilla Extract, The new generation rocks.

Jeff - we’ve been “forcing” CSS-in-JS for a while now, and we’re a lot faster, and fully typed. If you don’t know that it’s only because @rauchg has invested a lot pushing that narrative so he can sell server components and Turbopack
I think I have to just submit to @tailwindcss at this point. Every single AI tool leans on it. Nobody is trying to force CSS-IN-JS, and it just works for email bc it’s all classes. I hate it, I will never like it, but fuck it.

Ff you're wondering about One ❶ and Takeout 🥡 1. We've started on a rewrite of of Takeout to One and it's coming along well (🔗 in next tweet) 2. It will be free for all existing Takeout users with an active sub, if you buy Takeout today you will get the rewritten Takeout

also: Takeout users have the key to decrypt that part of the repo today - it's already posted in the private chat. it's a nice way to see a more robust One stack, and also follow along and see how we port it to Zero (once we start merging that in).

When will it release? Around end of year seems likely. Hopefully sooner but we don't want to commit to anything, we want to make it great before releasing.

So should you wait to start your app? We don't think so - if you start today you can have something great within a couple months. Say we release December, it should only take 1-2 weeks to migrate. And you'll gain that time back *very* quickly with the new stack.

Uh Wes you think we wouldn’t notice you using those sweet Tamagui selectors
I feel like this part of dev tools needs a re-design. CSS variables and utility classes have made it too hard to see whats being applied to an element. I want to see: 1. The property 2. The selector that added it 3. The computed variable value alongside the variable (blue, 10px, 4deg, etc..) 4. file:line of authorship

Great pickup for Tamagui devs
Introducing ✨Atomic CSS Devtools✨: a better way to debug atomic classes! - For everyone (TailwindCSS, Panda CSS, StyleX, UnoCSS, etc.) - Works anywhere (DOM, iframe, shadow DOM) - Group styles by @media / @layer - Familiar look, just like the OG style panel 👇 link below

🚀 Just launched an AI travel app using @reactnative, @expo, @tamagui_js, powered by @vercel + @nextjs + @trpcio + @neondatabase + @DrizzleORM. Had fun building it in a few weeks—it's a great time to be an app/web dev! Check it out: cherrytrip.app 🌍✈️

We’re proud to announce that @Uniswap is significantly increasing their sponsorship. They’ve done an amazing job supporting Tamagui and using it to ship incredible apps across three platforms. We’re excited for the next year, there’s a lot of refinement incoming.
