If the problem you are trying to solve is fewest bytes possible - Css in js is a much better solution for this in our experience.
Having a static site is great for performance:
* Use utility CSS libraries like @tailwindcss @tachyons_css, but have PurgeCSS slim them down to just the classes you need
* Use github.com/Munter/subfont/ to make custom subsets of webfonts based on only the chars your content needs
