One of the goals w/ Ionic is that we wanted to easily distribute the entire UI library from a CDN and not require webapps to use build tools. To do so @stenciljs generates lazy-loaded components, and the script for all of Ionic is 5kb, otherwise the file would be roughly 800kb.

This Ionic demo is prerendered then clientside hydrated. Notice the many page reloads but no flickers. The first paint is html/css only, then the JS progressively hydrates each ion-button component, converting from a flat dom tree into shadow dom. Hoping to ship in Ionic 4.7.0 ⚡️

I just prerendered the entire stenciljs.com website in less than a second. The site works without JS and is fully indexed by all crawlers, but also progressively clientside hydrates. Always comical to have it explained to me that none of that is possible. 🤷♂️
