While @ludvigrask_ is cooking up some 🔥 screens for the Gift Card plugin by @medusajs, I went ahead and got all the APIs and workflows ready with some dummy designs.
The demand for the gift card feature is increasing and can't be more excited to get this out the door. 🚀
This is a great project to dog food on what we build.
To build a plugin, you have to make this feature work outside of the core. I've been working on the core ever since v2's inception, so its nice to work on extending and customising the core from the outside.
I have to say, I am more excited now than ever. Medusa's customising capabilities and developer experience are through the roof! 🔥

🛒 The Future of E-Commerce? AI Workflows in Medusa 2 🤖
E-commerce is evolving, and AI-driven workflows are going to play a massive role in shaping the future. I’ve been experimenting with Medusa 2, Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Vercel’s AI SDK to create a smart, AI-powered storefront experience—and I’m excited to share a demo of what I’ve built so far!
💡 What does this prototype do?
✅ Fetches & summarizes product listings
✅ Dynamically updates product descriptions
✅ Sets the stage for AI-powered automation—inventory management, reports, payments, and more
This is still an early proof of concept, but I can already see the potential. Imagine an AI agent that helps merchants manage their store seamlessly, provides real-time analytics, and even automates complex e-commerce tasks through conversational AI.
I’m sharing my progress in public to spark conversations and get feedback. What features would you want to see AI handle in e-commerce? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
