First, Temporal is great and you should use it. So the question becomes, what role, if any, does a tool like Luxon play in in a world where everyone does that?

When stuff like this log4j mess happens (or left-pad, or whatever), something to remember is that in the same way you don't owe OSS maintainers anything, they don't owe you anything either

I've always been befuddled by JS programmers who refuse to embrace its idioms. I don't love them either, but it's better to ride a wave you don't like than just flail helplessly in the current. If you want types, use Typescript, etc

He's not taggable on Twitter, but I went to a TC39 in Boston a while back and I got to meeting Isaac who wrote @luxonjs and his wife and son.
Absolute highlight to get to meet a fellow maintainer in person. We got along really well too!

Periodic reminder to stop saying EDT or EST
A pet peeve of mine is when people use PST when they mean PDT. My annoyance isn't that they got the offset name wrong, it's that they could have avoided it by just omitting the S/D altogether. It's always whichever one is right! Motion to always use ET, CT, MT, and PT.
