I don't walk around the stage when I speak, but being able to step back or alongside my laptop as I speak, and use my hands to gesture is really freeing.
Hey first time speakers :
✨ Buy/borrow a slide clicker. ✨
Perhaps it seems like an unessesary expense, but it makes such a huge difference to feeling comfortable and relaxed while speaking.
It also instantly makes you more engaging 💯
