A lot of the things we put on React context should never have been there to begin with, but we didn't have an ergonomic per-request cache so it was the only way to get stuff to work universally with SSR.
Context not being available in SCs will lead to better patterns.

When I wrote the above tweet, I had totally forgotten about this excellent thread. My only extra point is that since it's now possible to do these things without context on the server, we also don't need context for them on the client anymore.

If Conditional Routes means what I think it means it can be a game changer. I've built something like it, "route overrides" in closed source, and it's so, so powerful, especially if it's done at a nested route level. 1/2

One thing we used it for was having slightly different routes in different countries. Another thing was putting header+footer in nested routes and hiding them if the user came from a webview in the app. All declarative. Tons of usecases. 2/2

Most of us who work on heavily used systems at scale saw this one coming, and that they would propose a rewrite as they just have, and we also don’t think this is the answer.
This is why hubris is a very counterproductive quality in engineering.

Naming is hard and I have no better suggestions, but Client Components running on both the server and the client causes me daily headaches. So hard to communicate about.

I get why they're called that, they represent the portable part of the code that can run in many environments etc, they are the "client" to the Server Components.
I've tried, but can't come up with anything better, Application Components would have been even worse.

This is pretty cool, Promises are becoming valid React children. Will also work across server->client boundary (with streaming).
Will eventually work with all use()-able types. Observables are one hypothetical future usable. Observables as children? 🤯
