Reflecting on @buritica’s #DinoJS talk, I want emphasize: IC’s, especially senior/staff engineers, have more autonomy than anyone else. This isn’t just code. If you work at a company who’s doing something unethical or oppressive, speak out! You have more power than you realize.

Every role in engineering has some combination of authority, influence, and autonomy, but no one (not even senior leadership) has all of them. Understanding how this is sliced up is *criticial* in learning how to build effective, collaborative, and inclusive teams.

The way that @buritica is describing and explaining the roles of authority, influence, autonomy, and trust in different roles in engineering is fantastic! We don't talk about general people skills much in tech, and I've *never* heard someone talk about this specific set #DinoJS
