During this stream, I fixed a bug that was causing React Native macOS apps to take 30 seconds longer than normal to launch when first connecting to Metro. The same bug exists in React Native iOS, just doesn't cost so much. Will upstream to both projects after a break!

Now streaming! 🎙️ I'm going to try to fix a problem in React Native macOS where RCTDevLoadingView opens and closes in a loop, blocking the UI thread at startup. Might be useful to the Microsoft Office team, who currently disable it. Link below!

Also found a surprise in the progress display 😄 In the time it takes to cross from the JS thread to the UI thread (about 10 ms), Metro bundling progress can jump from 0% to 100%. So the app ends up working through a queue of up to 100 UI updates with stale values for nothing.

The job description shows how the salary scales from age 27 to 37 (which very traditional companies are known to do in Japan). What do you think? Should salary implicitly scale with age? I feel there's actually more value in finding equivalent skills in a younger candidate.
