First time I heard her name was from @drdre, “tonight’s the night like Betty Wright”. No google at the time. More like computer lab on campus. Just made the connection.
Warning #noncodetweet.
Today will be a bad coding day. I am preoccupied. I just learned the my first born, whom I am #alienated from, got into @FSUFilm School. I am so happy for her. She has been making films w/ her siblings for many years on an Iphone, I knew she had it in her.
brother will be reunited. Maybe even she and I. She has given me code. I started to learn programming as a means of getting back to her. That didn't work, but I still have the code. Thank you, Imani.
To @BarryJenkins, @ava, @spikelee, @VictoriaMahoney@JordanPeele, I send you
a young black filmmaker at the start of her journey. Get your Clarence Avant on and light her way. If it's in you, do what I could not do, teach her what you know with an internship or mentorship.
Peace and love to you all. And now back to the code.
Your periodic reminder that Jane Street is a great place to do applied PL research!
Lots of interesting topics we're actively working on: unboxed types, typed algebraic effects, feedback-directed optimization, faster GC algorithms...
