👀 This is our one risky bet for @blitz_js — I’ve never seen this anywhere before. We decided to not use the MVC/REST approach used by Rails/Laravel because its too much ceremony and not very composable. And GraphQL is too complex* So all you have left is functions.
Looking at the App Architecture RFC for @blitz_js and finding their approach of building a query/data layer on top Next.js super interesting. The concept of auto generating the API/network layer is compelling. github.com/blitz-js/blitz/bl…

We just had the first weekly @blitz_js contributor video call! ❤️ The Blitz community is small, but already super awesome! 7 main contributors on this call, but there’s also several from the US that couldn’t make it. We’ll alternate times every other week since we are global.

Because stability is one of our core values, npm dependencies will be pinned to specific versions by default. So in package.json, you get “2.1.5” instead of “^2.0.8” This reduces the chance of unintended dependency updates and makes it very clear exactly what version is in use

Something we are doing by default is including all the “optional” files from Next.js like _app.tsx, _document.tsx, .babelrc, etc. Invariably you’ll end up needing these. Gone are the days of having to search through the Next docs just to find base contents to copy & paste ⚡️

We’re expecting the @blitz_js alpha release later this week! It’s been 9 weeks since I announced it. Here’s the rough breakdown: 🧑‍🔬7 weeks on research & design 🧑‍💻2 weeks on development The best API design is so obvious in hindsight, but takes real time & effort to discover!
